I thought I'd take this opportunity to procrastinate

So I just received a birthday surprise!

About a half hour ago, Epiphany came in to tell me that she had some free time, so she could fix my purse. Maybe you know my Le Sport Sac that Kjersten sent to me last year. It had Tokidoki, a Japanese company, design all over it... which meant crazy and cute. I used it through the second semester last year, over the summer, and it has been serving me well on Pac Rim. However, it is a knockoff that Kjer bought in Thailand for me last Christmas, so it had some problems. Very early on, one of the zippers started to break, but only about an inch of it, so I was able to avoid it getting any worse. However, Pac Rim began to take its toll on it. The zipper got worse, making it not so safe for my valuables. And then over winter break, the strap broke. So Kjer and I safety pinned the one loose side back onto it. That meant that I couldn't adjust the size at all anymore. But I continued with it like that until now.

So I take my purse over to Epiphany's room as a break from making my thesis presentation. Rachel M and Anna come by to see if they could borrow Epiphany's computer, but decide to watch their movie on Rachel's computer in her room. Maybe I should have noticed that this incident didn't quite make sense. Rachel asks Epiphany if she wants to come by her room to get something she left there, and so I wait in Epiphany's room while they are all elsewhere. Then Epiphany comes back and asks to take my bag over to Rachel's room to look at something, and I don't really think anything of it. After a few minutes, Anna and Epiphany, led by Rachel come back into the room.

Rachel: Marlene, theres something really wrong with the inside of your bag... I don't think if Epiphany is going to be able to fix it... I dont know.. you should just look inside and see.

Me (a little worried and upset, but realizing that something is a little off and that my bag is not empty anymore): Ok....... OH MY GOD!!

During our layover in Bangkok when leaving Cambodia for India, Rachel and I oogled over Le Sport Sacs. But the airport only had real ones that I couldn't afford. Also, I prefer not to buy my own purses, I like to let them come to me randomly. Rachel ended up getting this really cute one, and we both thought another one with a cat pattern on it was really cute (apparently I think they're all cute). Rachel is my fellow cat lover on the trip. Even though I was with Rachel most of the time we were in the airport for our layover, I missed something.

Rachel and the PacRimmers had bought me a new, real Le Sport Sac! The one with the cats all over it (I can't wait to show Micah). I was completely and totally surprised and not expecting it at all! They totally got me!

The card says:
Happy Birthday!
Marlene, we got you this present because:
A) you are stressed out because of your thesis presentation
B) you are currently sick
C) your birthday is almost a month away
D) WE LOVE YOU! :)
Enjoy! Rachel M and the other PacRimmers.

Thanks so much everyone! You are wonderful. The places we go is only half the trip, the other half is the group.
